Cargo Bay and Colors
This is part of a series of updates on my 90 Days & Ship It! Jam 2021 journey. 11 weeks left!
Progress Report
I focused again on game mechanics and started creating some colored sprites (fear not: more visually appealing sprites will be added soon).
Here is a list of other changes made to the game:
- Changed player and item sizes
- Added animations that are automatically converted from Tiled
- Added a cargo bay to the spaceship that can hold up to 4 slots
- (Re-)added basic functionality for these items: Container, Key, Cargo Expander, Fuel, Repair Kit
- Seperated particles for fuel and damage
- Updated maps to new sprites and tileset
Notes
I also experimented a lot with the controls (especially gamepad controls) but in the end decided to keep the current ones for now. Finally, I made two version with different resolutions and camera zoom and asked what people preferred. People seem to like the pixelized version, so I’m going with that for now. More testing will be done in the coming days.
The video at the top shows the game’s current state. Let me know what you think in the comments.
