Split-Screen Test
Kargo » Devlog
This is part of a series of updates on my 90 Days & Ship It! Jam 2021 journey. 10 weeks left!
Progress Report
This week I decided to give the two player split-screen a try. It was relatively easy to create two cameras but I had to make a lot of small changes in the code (especially on the player class). Luckily, the mechanics for picking up items throughout the map worked largely out of the box with two players.
Here is a list of other changes made to the game:
- Added second camera for experimental split screen
- Added preliminary 2 player controls
- Added two new test levels
- Added preliminary UI for second player
- Disabled level timer for now
- Lots of minor bug fixes
Notes
Besides coding, I watched a few GDC talks and other videos on indie game dev stories, pixel art and music composition.
The video at the top shows a preview of the split-screen mode. Let me know what you think in the comments.
